Wendy Dearing

Wendy Dearing is a Professor of Practice with UWTSD's School of Applied Computing. As part of International Women's Day 2018, here is the story of her excellent career in a STEM subject.

Wendy Dearing is Head of Workforce and Organisational Development at the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS). She began her career as a nurse.  She holds an MSc in Change & Innovation and recently has been conferred Professor of Practice from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The professorship in Applied Practice has been awarded in recognition of Wendy’s expertise and knowledge in championing professionalism in technology and information.

Her role includes workforce planning recruitment and retention; professional recognition and registration; education and training; career pathways & CPD.

She is Chair of BCS Wales Health and Vice Chair for Professionalism BCS Health and has a passion for developing “the next generation” as well as developing professionalism across the Health Informatics field.
