UWTSD Home - Institutes and Academies - Swansea College of Art - Fine Art - Fine Art Industry links
- Fine Art Swansea is happy to announce a new partnership with the Artists Benevolent Fund in support of their Step Change Fellowship Programme. This partnership will provide sponsorship funding to two graduates to help to launch, sustain and develop their careers as fully committed artists. It is particularly intended for graduates who have experienced disadvantages through social, economic or cultural circumstances and who wish to embark on a professional career as an artist. Fellows will be from England and Wales and have appropriate residential status. With consideration, you have been nominated to apply for this fellowship.
- Students are offered a unique opportunity to work within an external project in the 3rd year, introducing them to art based partnerships. These introductions often continue to support the student after they have completed their degree course.
- They develop links with galleries enabling them to develop their exhibition skills and offering them an introduction to a wider networking experience.
- Gallery links enable students to foster relations with professionals for curatorship/arts management and community education.
- The external project also enables students to understand where their strengths lie and in turn gives them a unique insight into community arts/creating arts establishments within an arts community context and museum/gallery conservation work.
ARTS COUNCIL OF WALES - VENICE INVIGILATOR PLUS PROGRAMME
One of the aims of presenting in Venice is to ‘Create international experiences and connections for galleries, curators and artists that will develop the visuals arts in Wales’ so including students and new graduates in the programme enhances how this is fulfilled. Their presence also supports the aim to ‘Celebrate Wales in the World as dynamic, culturally engaged and forward-looking’, something that a student presence helped achieve and that they have continued to do on their return home. An opportunity to raise aspiration and ambition in participants, giving them the chance to experience a highly creative environment amongst an exceptional peer group, in Venice and in Wales.

An independent charity, we are committed to providing a platform to support [artists] and profile what they do. Through a determination to create the space [artists] need, our programme comprises a range of activities:
Reflecting the [artists’] voice is integral to emerging developments in contemporary art, across assorted contexts. We present new aspects and forms of artistic expression to local, national and international audiences.
Supporting [artists]: insurance, networks, space, opportunities, R&D awards, profiling, advice, mentoring - enabling [artists] to be [artists]. [Artists] blur the boundaries and we adapt and change with their evolution, seeking to provide the best support we can.
