As students of UWTSD Sam Dymock-Brown, Ryan Harding, Radu Scinteie and Michalini Bujak organised the Swansea Business School first year showcase event at Unit Nineteen in Swansea.

Sixty-eight students from Swansea Business School at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David showcased their first semester’s work at a special event which was held at Unit Nineteen in Swansea.

Upon starting their degree course in September, the students were told that their first 12 weeks of study would be linked to a live project with a focus on three specific areas of the Business and Management course – Marketing, Human Resources and Community Engagement.

Twelve different charitable organisations were invited to meet the students and to present their projects to them with the students then given the opportunity to choose which of those organisations they wanted to work with.

The organisations included a local school, a homeless charity and a theatre group with students having to arrange a range of projects whilst also documenting their activities and campaigns by creating dedicated websites and social media.

“By organising this event it meant that we had to coordinate our classmates and interact with the whole group. We have had to think outside the box to make this evening fun.”

Ryan Harding - Unit Nineteen Project Showcase Co-ordinator – BA Business Management

“We organised the event using social media, emails, coordinating the media and organising the band, etc.”

Radu Scinteie - Unit Nineteen Project Showcase Co-ordinator – BA Business Management

“The lecturers have been interactive pushing you to engage with others in different situations, it’s very focused on team-working. I have also learned new skills in social media, designing flyers and producing video.”

Michalini Bujak - Unit Nineteen Project Showcase Co-ordinator – BA Business Management (Finance)

“My role has involved looking after the groups and preparing a feedback survey to measure the success of the event in order to make recommendations for the next event. This event has enabled us to showcase the project outcomes, such as money raised or increased awareness. Showing the importance of each charity and what the groups achieved.”
