Programme Director for the Foundation Degree and BSc Coaching and
Performance pathways in Sport, Football and Rugby.
I have had over twenty years of experience as a lecturer in Further and Higher Education. Duties have been primarily teaching academic and vocational subjects to further education students aged 16 and over and undergraduate students aged 18 and over. Current role is Programme Director for the undergraduate degrees in Sports Coaching & Performance, Rugby Coaching & Performance and Football Coaching & Performance.
I deliver on a range of modules including Sports Coaching, Practical Sports Performance, Sports Analysis, Work Based Learning, Independent study
Interests included Sports Coaching, Sports Performance, Sports Expertise and Talent ID. Also have a keen interest in Industry/Work Based related skills.
Academic - I have had over twenty years of experience as a lecturer in further and higher education devising, planning and implementing a variety of learning and teaching sessions.
Rugby - I have had over 35 years experience within rugby union which includes my playing and coaching career. I have been coaching for 20 years as an assistant coach, head coach and 10 years of extensive experience as a Director of Rugby in a college setting. My various roles have seen me dealing with the management of different coaching staffs, strength & conditioning coaches, analysts, and physiotherapists. I also have coached all age groups from U7 to senior players both male and female. I have guided over 50 players both male and female through the rugby programmes I have been involved in on to International honours at U18, U20 and into the professional game and seen many go on to win their full senior international caps with current Wales Internationals Gareth Davies, Scott Williams, Josh Adams, Keiran Hardy, Samson Lee, Rebcca De Fillipo, Ffion Lewis and Ryan Elias an example of this. Several of these have gone on to represent the British and Irish Lions. Equally important though has been the hundreds of players who I have coached that have continued to play rugby to various standards while going onto highly successful careers in a range of industries.
Welsh Senior Schools and Colleges Rugby Union (2005 - present).
I am a serving executive committee members on the national governing body for Schools and Colleges in Wales. The organisation deals with the running of the game in Schools and Colleges.
Neath Athletic Rugby Football Club (2006 - present)
At my Local community rugby club I have has various positions including Senior coach, Youth Coach, Mini Section, Chairman, Junior Section Chairman and a Member of the Club Committee.
