UWTSD Home - The University - Campuses, Centres and Locations - Lampeter Campus - Why Lampeter?
Why Lampeter?
Got a head for humanities? Lampeter offers an experience that is inherently different from any other campus, where you can explore your true passions, from Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations, to Creative Writing and Liberal Arts. Set in an idyllic rural location, you can immerse yourself in the stories of the past, present and future, surrounded by the historic buildings where higher education in Wales first began.
Smaller class sizes will help you find your voice and truly understand your subject on a campus that combines a distinguished academic tradition with all the technology needed for 21st century learning.
The library and the Roderic Bowen Special Collections and Archives together hold around 275,000 printed volumes, while the UWTSD Special Collections and Archives house the University's oldest printed books, manuscripts and archives, and attracts researchers from all over the world.
Lampeter is also a campus with its focus on the future. If you're interested in building sustainable economic resilience and sovereignty, then you'll be excited by our Canolfan Tir Glas Development, with the establishment of two new initiatives – the Academy of Contemporary Food Wales and the Welsh Timber Development Centre from 2024.
Lampeter's accommodation is all on its beautiful green campus, just a stone's throw away from shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs in the vibrant market town. You're also within easy access of the Brecon Beacons, beautiful beaches, and coastal towns.
