As part of the Customer Services team within the Library & Learning Resources service, the Customer Services Librarian role includes helping to create a welcoming, positive and proactive experience for all customers visiting the University libraries. In conjunction with colleagues, we are responsible for frontline lending and stock circulation services, ensuring the library environment is conducive to learning, taking in to account the needs of a diverse range of users and making the best use of individual, group and blended learning spaces. Lastly, we manage a team of Customer Services staff and ensure that services are coordinated and standards are maintained across our five lending libraries.
My library career began back in 1996 through the GROW (Graduate Opportunities in Wales) scheme with a fixed-term placement at Gregynog Hall in Mid Wales, prior to then taking up a full-time library assistant post at Neath College.
My professional association with the University started in 1998 when I was appointed to the role of Assistant Librarian. Since then, I have held positions as a Senior Assistant Librarian, Deputy Head of Library & Learning Resources and I now currently work as a Customer Services Librarian (job-share).
My professional interests include user experience, library space design and customer engagement.
My personal interests include spending time with my daughter, baking cakes and yoga.
