Advertising and Brand Design graduate interns in Singapore


Danielle Leigh Hall, BA Advertising and Brand Design student, graduating today from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Swansea has had the opportunity to work in Singapore, interning at Glassick Brands, a worldwide branding company. 

“My internship at Glassick Brands has been absolutely wonderful,” says Danielle. “I’ve learned so much and my eyes have been opened to the opportunities available to me after graduating. The internship came my way when, for the final year of the course, we had to source our own briefs and find our own clients. I took a chance and emailed some big companies to see if they had a design brief for me to work to which led me to start chatting to the Creative Director of Glassick Brands. After chatting for a few weeks via e-mail she said that I sounded really enthusiastic and offered for me to participate in a 4 week internship with them in Singapore.

“The company are now expanding and teaming up with Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR) to get better communications and strategy across Asia. JKR was listed in The Drums Top 50 Agencies in 2015 with great clients including Budweiser, M&M’s, PG Tips and Mars.

“I have reaped so many opportunities from this internship including designing the new office wall and preparing artwork for print. Tiger beer is the main client which the company has worked on for years so I’ve seen some really cool original artwork. I’ve been briefed on Ben & Jerry’s packaging and scoop shops. I’ve worked with strategy to identify trends in the beer market, what competitors are doing and other research for Chang Beer.

“Singapore is such a beautiful place so it’s like a holiday too. I’m super appreciative of the opportunity and enjoyed every minute of the internship.”

UWTSD’s BA Advertising and Brand Design is Fine Art, Graphic Design and Business, all tied up with the latest technologies. The course attracts ‘ideas’ people, who believe every day is an exciting challenge to find something new.

The course is all about studying to become a professional creative. The projects encompass all kinds of media, from magazine to social media, radio to TV and from billboards to public events. It’s also about communication for business and enterprise. Students liaise with businesses and look at real problems to solve from the very outset. The ‘hands on’ projects include design for branding, creative art direction (working with photographers and video students among others), ‘pitching’ concepts and ideas, marketing strategies and leading innovative new campaigns.
