BA Acting Programme Director writes new One Act Play

A One Act Play written by UWTSD’s BA Acting Programme Director Dave Ainsworth will be performed at the Halliwell Theatre on the University’s Carmarthen Campus on Wednesday 11 January starting at 7pm.

Greville’s Whore

Headstrong Productions’ Greville’s Whore is a one-woman play and stars UWTSD graduate actress, Georgia Warlow.  It is being directed by another UWTSD graduate, Kiera Sikora and tells of the love affair between the artist George Romney and model Emma Hamilton, before Emma became the most recognised woman in Britain and the infamous lover of Horatio Nelson.

The show is the first play written by Dave, since his sell-out tribute to Charles Hawtrey, called Oh Hello! Oh Hello! was chosen as a Pick of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 – the largest arts festival in the World.

Dave who is also a Personal Tutor to all third year Acting Students at UWTSD, is a former actor and stand-up comedian. He has performed all across the country, Canada and the USA and also ran Three Comedy Clubs in the heart of London. Dave has written many plays that have been performed professionally, including Who’s Afraid of Rachel Roberts, Malvolio in Stockings, Wasteland, Noe Two Thynges are More Equal and a novel in 1999, Silly Mid Off. He was a member of the Torch Theatre Company and has been an actor in nine of their productions. He is now a Board Member for the Torch Theatre.
