OPRA Cymru performs Deigryn yn y Dirgel (The Elixir of Love)


OPRA Cymru will visit Y Llwyfan in Carmarthen on 12 March 2016 at 7.30pm for its new Welsh version of the opera Donizetti, L'elisir d'amore – Deigryn yn y Dirgel (The Elixir of Love).

It is a comic opera located in the countryside. There will also be a chamber orchestra playing.

The performers include Meilir Jones, Gareth Rhys-Davies and former student of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Rhodri Prys Jones.

OPRA Cymru was founded in 2008, by opera director Patrick Young and his wife Sioned. The company was launched on June 21st 2009 with a full opera gala concert – Troad Y Rhod - in the Pafiliwn in Pontrhydfendigaid.

Since its founding, the company has created and toured Welsh language versions of five classics of the operatic canon.
