Outstanding Extra Curricular Achievements for UWTSD Student

Samuel Hopkins, BA Public Service student, who graduated today from UWTSD Swansea, has achieved outstanding success during his time at University.

Bronwen Williams, Public Services Coordinator said: “Sam has really made the most of his time at UWTSD Swansea. He volunteered with METPOL, our student police volunteer scheme, dedicating every Wednesday night to volunteer on the Help Point.  Sam was made team leader in his third year. For this he has achieved a High Sheriff Award and a South Wales Police ‘Extra Mile’ award.

“Not only has Sam fully committed to his studies, he has taken every opportunity that has been presented to him, from attending a Fire Training course that involved breathing apparatus training to working with the police armed response unit.

“As well as gaining his degree he also goes away with the level 3 Certificate in Knowledge of Policing which has enabled him to reach the final stage of recruitment for Police Officers for South Wales Police.

“Sam has been an inspiring student and we are very proud of his success.”

The Public Services degree at UWTSD provides a vocational education to prepare students for a career in the Public Services professions.
