The 12th International Games, Animation, and Audio Conference will take place on Wednesday January 25 with a Conference Day at the ALEX Reading Room. This will be followed on Thursday January 26 by a Careers Day featuring industry Masterclasses.

SAND (Swansea Animation Days) was an annual international CGI event that ran for ten years between 1999 and 2013, organized by the School of Film and Digital Media and tailored primarily for the Creative IP Industries and individuals interested in animation and digital media. With a full international event planned for 2017, Swansea College of Art at UWTSD are delighted to be able to announce the exciting high-profile line-up for this year’s event:

  • Two of the creative leads at Blizzard Entertainment who have been working on World of Warcraft and Overwatch: Corey Pelton, Senior Cinematic Animator and Carman Chung, Senior Animator.
  • Brian Judhan, a Senior Technical Animator at Electronic Arts who has worked on Battlefield Hardline and Star Wars Battlefront.
  • Novelist and Scriptwriter Anthony Johnston of Shadow of Mordor, Dead Space, and Wasteland fame.
  • Former UWTSD graduate Adam Davis, now Global Head of Crowd Simulation and Motion Capture at MPC will be showing off his cutting-edge VFX work. Adam has worked on Game of Thrones, The Mummy, X-Men, and Alien Covenant.

Fellow UWTSD graduate Suraj Harrington-Odedra (pictured above) was Lead 3D Artist at The Mill and has worked on Call of Duty “Ghosts” and the latest promotional videos for the Chemical Brothers and LG.

There will also be contributions from Ian Thomas (Talespinners), Stafford Bawler (Monument Valley), Framestore, Double Negative, and another former UWTSD student, Danni Abram.

Head of the School of Film and Digital Media, Dr. Paul Hazel, said that “we are incredibly excited to have such an amazing line-up for SAND 2017. What is particularly gratifying is to be able to call upon our so many of our ex-graduates who have risen to such prominent positions in the UK film, animation, and VFX industries.”
