The drop-in style surgeries will take place every last Friday of the month at UWTSD’s new Exhibition Centre on South Quay on King’s Road, SA1 with the first one taking place between 1pm and 4pm on Friday 24th February.

Members of the SA1 Swansea Waterfront project team will be available at each surgery, where the general public is free to pop in with any questions or queries they may have as the development progresses.

UWTSD’s Project Director, Ray Selby, said: “We are proud to be a part of the Swansea community and, therefore, engaging with the SA1 community and keeping them informed throughout the project development phases is a priority for us. We understand there will be questions and queries from various stakeholders at various stages of the project development, so we decided that having regular monthly drop-in surgeries would allow people to come by and talk to us in an informal manner.

“For us, engaging the public is not only about keeping them informed but also getting them involved in the decisions we make and ultimately, getting them to be active users of our new neighbourhood which will be for all, not just our students. We encourage anyone with an interest in our new SA1 Swansea Waterfront development to come along to the surgeries as we are really keen to hear your views.”

Surgery dates for the following six months, all at the Exhibition Centre at South Quay, Kings Road, SA1, are:

  • Friday 31st March
  • Friday 28th April
  • Friday 26th May
  • Friday 30th June
  • Friday 28th July
  • Friday 25th August

UWTSD’s vision for SA1 Swansea Waterfront is to create a neighbourhood with academic activity at its core to attract companies to collocate with the University to exploit knowledge, develop skills, support existing companies and attract new investment into the region. Phase one of the development has already commenced to create a new facility for the Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering, as well as new library facilities. UWTSD has also made significant investment in SA1 through the purchase of the two Technium buildings, as well as the Cyprium building, all of which are home to a range of private companies, a number of whom are already collaborating with the university to develop new products and processes.
