UWTSD students take part in 2nd annual East Vs. West: A Festival of Sport


Students from University of Wales Trinity Saint David travelled to Pontypridd to compete in East vs West 2: A Festival of Sport. The day of sporting fixtures saw teams from Carmarthen, Lampeter, and Swansea campuses compete against teams from University of South Wales in football, netball, rugby, hockey, basketball and lacrosse. Over 300 students from UWTSD took part in the day which celebrated sporting achievement at the University.

Men's Basketball

Courtney Tovey plays Goal Keeper for UWTSD's 1st netball team who played against University of South Wales. She said: "Both netball teams played their best, they tried hard and they had fun. It was a great atmosphere!"

The event was organised by Trinity Saint David Students' Union, in partnership with University of South Wales Students' Union. Rhys Dart, Chief Executive of TSDSU said: "We're delighted to see our teams and campuses come together for our second annual East v. West: a festival of sport event. The inaugural tournament was a fantastic success and we expect it to grow and grow in the future. The event is a celebration of student sport at the two Universities, and a rare opportunity for our students to come together and celebrate being part of UWTSD"

Women's Rugby

Shannon Lee attended the event for the first time this year and also played for UWTSD's 2nd netball team. She said: "I really enjoyed it, I loved watching all the games and I'm looking forward to seeing more sports on the agenda next year."
