Orthrus Racing have had another action-packed weekend of racing

The student-led team were racing at Brands Hatch racecourse, the famous racing circuit in West Kingsdown in Kent. Despite the rainy weather, they finished 9th place in their first race before progressing to their second race.

The team said: “Brands hatch proved to be an interesting returning round for Matt, with blistering sunshine all day Friday and Saturday, and constant rain on Sunday. This worked in our favour to help Matt get his confidence back in both conditions, with lap times improving throughout Friday and Saturday until taking a step back for Sunday before improving again. The bike performed well and was responsive to setup changes, helping dial the bike in as the pace was upped.

“This meant that we were able to secure top 15 finishes in the dry and top tens in the wet after qualifying 25th, with lap times suggesting stronger finishes being on the cards. An enjoyable round out, despite the less than ideal weather, it has well and truly primed us for our next outing where we'll be at Anglesey.”

Orthrus Racing is an entirely student-led racing team that operates out of the Faculty of Architecture, Computing, and Engineering’s School of Engineering. The team, comprised of BEng students, came together so that we could build, develop and race motorcycles and apply everything we learn throughout our degrees directly to the track.

The Faculty of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (FACE) is a multidisciplinary faculty, covering architecture, automotive and motorsport engineering, construction, computing, electronics, environmental management, logistics, and mechanical and manufacturing engineering.
