Swansea Laptop Orchestra bring you CoDI: ELECTRONIC, in association with Tŷ Cerdd

Swansea Laptop Orchestra have collaborated with Tŷ Cerdd on a new project that will encourage composers of experimental and electronic music to develop their skills and produce new pieces of work.

Jenn Kirby

Dr Jenn Kirby and Simon Kilshaw, who are both members of the Swansea Laptop Orchestra and Lecturers in Music at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art, will be providing workshops to composers who have won a place on the course.

Dr Jenn Kirby, who is the Director of Swansea Laptop Orchestra, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Ty Cerdd and to work with the selected composers from the project. The project is a wonderful opportunity to mentor Welsh composers in composing electronic and electroacoustic music for performers. It's exciting because there really is no rule book with this type of music. We're looking forward to seeing and hearing the composers' different approaches."

Applications are currently being invited for the workshops. In order to participate, composers must submit an application form along with two examples of their existing work. Six participants will be selected to develop their work in a series of intensive Sunday workshops conducted by Dr Kirby. The resulting pieces will be workshopped by the Swansea Laptop Orchestra which will make a studio recording of each and premiere them in the project’s final performance at Bangor Music Festival.
