The work of Professor Tim Davies is showcased in two UK touring exhibitions

The work of Tim Davies, Professor of Fine Art and Senior Lecturer at UWTSD's Swansea College of Art, is currently featured in two exhibitions touring the UK.

The Arts Council Collection, managed by the Southbank Centre, has brought together work by a diverse range of artists including Karla Black, Prunella Clough, Bridget Riley and Cornelia Parker in On Paper which features one of Tim’s scorched ‘Untitled (Nail Drawings)’ pieces. The exhibition will be visiting the Glynn Vivian Gallery in Swansea from 29th September to 25th November.

In Quotes, curated by Ann-Marie James and supported by Karsten Schubert, focuses on collage and assemblage in contemporary art. The exhibition is on show in the Gerald Moore Gallery, London until 19th May, having started its tour at East Gallery, Norwich last August. Favourably reviewed by Art Monthly, which describes Tim’s series of sanded postcards as ‘quietly fascinating’, the exhibition also features work by Susan Hiller and John Stezaker.

Originally from Pembrokeshire, Tim has worked at Swansea College of Art for around twenty years while also maintaining his practice as an artist. He has won every major visual art accolade in Wales, including the Gold Medal at the National Eisteddfod, the Mostyn Open,  major Creative Wales Award and the Wakelin prize. He was shortlisted for the inaugural Artes Mundi International Visual Art prize and represented Wales in a solo show at the Venice Biennale. As well as working as a visual artist, he also co-founded and curated the first three Locws International exhibitions in order to bring international and Welsh artists together to work site-responsively in Swansea, and curated the Ground: series of exhibitions to showcase the work of young and emerging artists, many of whom studied at Swansea College of Art and have subsequently gone on to have successful careers as artists, such as Alex Duncan and Hannah Downing.
