The PTES is the only UK higher education sector-wide survey to gain insight from taught postgraduate students about their learning and teaching experience. Overall student satisfaction has increased by 5.2% to 85% this year, which places the University in the top quartile of the 105 institutions participating.  Subject results have been particularly excellent.  Business & Administration and Social Sciences are placed first in the UK overall, with Creative Arts & Design achieving a 5th place ranking.

In addition, twenty UK top ten positions were obtained across the three key areas of 'retention', 'assessment' and 'employability'.  For example, the University is placed 6th overall in the UK for 'assessment' and 9th overall for 'employability'.  For its Taught Masters students, UWTSD is placed 1st in the UK for 'assessment'; 'History & Philosophy' is placed 5th in the UK for 'assessment' and 'Education' ranked 6th for employability. Business & Administration, Social Sciences and Creative Arts & Design obtained top ten positions in all three key areas.

Dr Mirjam Plantinga, the University’s Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience, said:

‘We are delighted with these results for our postgraduate taught provision and particularly celebrate the excellent set of results at subject level. Earlier this year, the University was placed 6th in the UK in the 2018 WhatUni results for the new postgraduate category.  Both results confirm the University’s strong commitment to the quality of teaching for our postgraduate taught students.

Staff at UWTSD work hard to make university life for our students enjoyable and fulfilling, so to be recognized in this way based on student feedback is excellent news.  The quality of the student experience is central to our mission and we work in very close partnership with our students.’

The University has a range of bursaries available to support students to take up postgraduate studies. These include UWTSD Master’s Progression Bursaries, Welsh Government Master’s bursaries, as well as a range of bursaries offered at subject level.  More information can be found at https://www.uwtsd.ac.uk/bursaries/postgraduate/.
