UWTSD celebrates success in the UK Engagement Survey (UKES)

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has welcomed the results of the UK Engagement Survey which were released this week.

The United Kingdom Engagement Survey (UKES) is the only nationwide UK undergraduate survey to focus on student engagement.  The UKES is an important tool for understanding how students experience their courses, how engaged they feel by the teaching and how supported they are in their learning and development.

Overall the University has been ranked 4th in the UK with a 4th position gained for retention, 5th position for assessment and 7th position for employability.

Subject results have also been excellent, with Art & Design and Psychology ranking 1st in the UK overall, Mechanical Engineering 2nd and Education Studies 4th.  In addition, a further 10 UK top 4 positions were obtained at subject level in the three key areas of assessment, retention and employability, with Psychology and Art & Design achieving such positions in all three sections.

Dr Mirjam Plantinga, the University’s Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience, said:

"We are delighted with these results for the University overall and at subject level.  The UKES allows us to obtain quality feedback from our first and second year undergraduate students and to benchmark our results nationally.   Feedback from the UKES allows us to enhance our provision for our students while they are studying with us.  Student engagement is a priority and we work in close partnership with the Students’ Union.  Staff work hard to make university life for our students enjoyable and fulfilling, so to be recognized in this way based on student feedback is excellent news."
