UWTSD ranked 11th in the UK wide WhatUni Student Choice Awards University of the Year category

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has claimed an 11th position in the UK wide WhatUni Student Choice Awards 2018 (WUSCAs) in the University of the Year category.

WUSCA 2018

This result has seen the University climb 32 places, from a 43rd  to an 11th position out of 126 universities overall.  Now in their fifth year, the WUSCAs recognise institutions for excellence in a wide variety of academic and social areas and offer prospective students a student-led alternative to traditional university ranking systems. The awards are based on tens of thousands of reviews submitted by students to Whatuni.

UWTSD celebrates a number of additional successes in key categories.  Top ten UK positions have been obtained in three categories:  "course and lecturers" (4th in the UK), "student support" (6th in the UK) and "postgraduates" (6th in the UK).

In addition, an 18th position in the UK has been achieved in the ‘giving back’ category which focuses on how students give back to those around them and the community more widely. UWTSD has also secured the 32nd position in the UK in the ‘job prospects’ category.

Dr Mirjam Plantinga, the University's Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience said: "We’re delighted with the results for the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2018 and are particularly pleased with our 11th position in the University of the Year category.  We also very much welcome the top ten ratings in areas which we really pride ourselves on, especially as these awards are voted for by students themselves.

Staff at UWTSD work hard to make university life for our students enjoyable and fulfilling, so to be recognised in this way, based on student feedback, is excellent news.  The quality of the student experience is central to our mission and we work in very close partnership with our students.

As we do with every survey we will be looking at the results to identify areas for enhancement.  National surveys provide us with that vital feedback to help us ensure that we meet the needs of our students."
