UWTSD students selected as Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol ambassadors

It was announced this week that three students from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David have been selected as Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol ambassadors.

Coleg Cymraeg Ambassadors 1

Iolo Roberts, Siôn Llywelyn Jones and Phoebe Hooper will start in their roles this month where they will be expected to complete a number of different tasks throughout the year. The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol appoints ambassadors annually to help with the effort to encourage prospective students to pursue their higher education studies through the medium of Welsh. The work will include representing the Coleg in a variety of events during the year including UCAS Fairs and Eisteddfodau as well as visiting schools to give presentations to prospective students on what life is like as a Coleg Cymraeg student at UWTSD.

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Ambassadors are students currently studying at one of Wales’ Universities and who study part of their course through the medium of Welsh. Iolo Roberts, who is studying BA Primary Education with QTS at UWTSD, said:

"I consider it a privilege to be chosen as a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Ambassador and look forward to getting started. It is a great opportunity to be involved with the efforts to promote the excellent Welsh-medium provision available at UWTSD. I am very grateful to the Coleg Cymraeg for this opportunity - there is no doubt that the experiences I will gain from this work will be very valuable."

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol Communications Manager Elin Williams said:

"Being an ambassador is an important and valuable role, giving students a sense of satisfaction from helping prospective students make informed decisions about their future choices in higher education.

It gives these students a fantastic opportunity to represent the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol at a number of events, and to earn some money at the same time of course!  The Ambassadors are also expected to contribute to our blog –Llais y Llysgennad (The Ambassador’s Voice). We are very proud of the students that have been selected and look forward to working with all of them this year."

Llais y Llysgennad is the blog that gives a rundown of what life is like for a Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol student in the form of video, pictures and conversation. The blog can be followed here- https://blog.colegcymraeg.cymru/
