The conference, which will run from 10am to 3pm, will offer a variety of sessions suitable for teachers and support assistants aimed at developing professional knowledge for use in the classroom. There will also be sessions for sixth form students which will provide an insight into higher education as well as the opportunity to achieve some university credits via the university’s new Steps to Success programme.

Speakers will include Dr Jill Morgan, who will deliver a session entitled, ‘Supportive Classrooms: Working more effectively with Teaching Assistants’ and Catherine Slade, who will discuss ‘Working creatively to support the well-being of young people.’

It will also feature a session on ‘Life Mapping’ by Ken Dicks and a seminar on PCP by Heike Griffiths. Caroline Lewis, Assistant Director of Academic Discipline: Social Justice & Inclusion at UWTSD will deliver a session on critical thinking and skills necessary for studying successfully, aimed at individuals thinking about entering higher education.

Caroline Lewis said: "We are excited to launch our conference this year focusing on supporting and developing wellbeing as a key issue within our society today. We hope to be able to highlight this important issue and provide insights to both students and teachers about managing wellbeing as well as the opportunity to have a taste of university life through our student focused study skills sessions.”
