UWTSD’s students’ union group president Rob Simkins tells graduates at Carmarthen : “The world is your stage now.”

Adressing the graduation ceremonies at the university's Carmarthen campus today, Rob said: I'm here to congratulate you all, not only for successfully achieving your academic qualifications but also for the contributions that you have all made to our university and your union.

"This year, through the Students Union, we’ve run more student-led activity than ever before, our clubs, societies and campaigns have gone from strength to strength and reached more of you than ever before - and that is largely down to your energy, enthusiasm and commitment, so thank you on behalf of the SU to each and every one of you, for your contributions, no matter how big or small.

As you leave, successful graduates, I beg of you to continue the virtues you’ve shown here - standing up for your rights and the things that matter to you. It is so important that you continue the engagement you’ve shown here as a citizen. Take part, turn up, vote, be active within your community, debate and shape the world around you. I said it last year and I’ll say it again, it has never, ever been more important for everyone to play their part in shaping our society for the better. Get out there, be the example, lead and show people that we are a family of graduates who care and we’re prepared to act upon it.

As a Union, we are proud to have represented you. As a President, I’m proud to have known you, and I’m proud of what you’ve all achieved. I wish you all the luck in the world for your futures, remember your time here fondly. Llongyfarchiadau i chi gyd, congratulations to you all. The world is your stage now."
