Working in education is a dream role for Education Studies graduate Sophie Hassett

09.07.2018

Working with children was always a dream role for Education Studies graduate Sophie Hassett.

A former head girl of Bishop Gore Comprehensive, Sophie, who graduated with a first class honours  at a ceremony at the city’s Brangwyn Hall today, had been told by her then head teacher Ryan Davies that she should consider a career in education.

Sophie said: “I was always helping out in school, helping younger pupils and organising activities and Mr Davies told me that I should seriously consider a career in education.

“So when I finished my A Level’s, I enroled at UWTSD on the BA Education Studies course.”

Whilst at UWTSD, Sophie has completed a number of placements at local schools, including, Hafod, Crwys and Townhill primaries.

“I have loved every minute,” she said. “It’s definitely a future career for me. I have now enrolled in a new MA Education Studies course starting at UWTSD in September as I now want to focus on working with special needs children in the future.”
