Their future, our hands: new book inspires the future generation

UWTSD’s Felicity Healey-Benson has collaborated on a new publication highlighting the importance of sustainable development to future generations.

Two young boys hold the environment posters they drew; a girl between them holds a copy of Applying Sustainability

‘Applying Sustainability’, written by Mr Tay Kay Luan, Vice Chancellor at the International University of Malaya-Wales, brings together the principles and practices of sustainable development in the context of global challenges that include climate change, food security, and a widening digital divide.

Mr Tay Kay Luan said: “This book intends to make it simpler for many to remove denials, make sceptics to understand, and to reinforce the key messages across all stakeholders to overcome the challenges.

Felicity, a lecturer in HRM & Management at the University’s Institute of Management and Health said: “As a contributing editor and author and on the sub-themes of education, future of work and artificial intelligence, it’s literally a dream come true for me.

“The health of the planet has become a consistent theme that weighs heavy on my mind; especially as a mother to three young children. The arrival of the book has brought tremendous excitement to my household. For not only does it contribute significantly to the global discussion on the most important challenge of our time, it is home to two of my own chapters ‘Sustainability and education’ and ‘Humans versus Robots‘.

“I am immensely proud to have a voice in a publication which prioritises sustainability. Mr Kay Luan has formidable insight into a limitless list of industries and topics.

“I am humbled to be involved in project which contributes to a debate of such significance. I encourage everyone to take a look. Let’s move things on further towards achieving UNESCO’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
