UWTSD Swansea College of Art graduates to showcase their creative skills at New Designers 2019


UWTSD Swansea College of Art graduates will showcase their creative skills at this year's 'New Designers’ Exhibition in London, which runs from June 26-29 & July 3-6.

New Designers provides a unique platform for fresh design talent to connect with design educators, professionals and consumers, for creative exchange and collaboration. Hosted at London’s Business Design Centre, it showcases the fresh-thinking and innovation of 3,000 brilliant individuals, providing an essential pipeline of new talent into the UK’s creative industries.

Graduates from UWTSD’s Advertising & Brand Design course will attend D&AD New Blood, The Old Truman Brewery, from July 10-13. 

3rd in the UK for Design & Crafts, 5th in the UK for Art and 8th in the UK for Fashion & Textiles -  Guardian University League Table 2021

Professor Ian Walsh, UWTSD’s Dean of Art and Design said: We are delighted that the excellence of our graduates will once again be seen at Europe’s largest international graduate design exhibition. Graduates from Surface Pattern Design, Glass, Product Design, Automotive Design, Illustration, will make up one of the largest graduate contingents at the exhibition. Over the years, graduates of Swansea College of Art have won numerous awards at this prestigious showcase. The event at London’s Business Design Centre attracts thousands of visitors and employers from across the UK and Europe. They are attracted by the sheer quality and breadth of talent on display – much of it from UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art.”

Dr Mark Cocks, Assistant Dean at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art added: “Following on from the exciting Summer Degree Shows at venues across Swansea, our courses are now presenting a selection of their best graduate work to the London based creative industries as part of the New Designers graduate events. These exhibitions provide our students with exciting opportunities to showcase the creative work produced whilst studying with us at Swansea College of Art and as such to kick off their art and design careers.”

UWTSD has seen its ranking increase by 29 positions in the Guardian 2020 University league table, a joint 3rd highest increase in ranking in the UK. Three subjects are ranked in the top 10 overall in the UK: ‘Fashion & Textiles’ (1st), ‘Design & Crafts’ (7th), and ‘Art’ (8th).
