UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art is highest climber in national rankings

UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art has climbed 25 places among UK’s ‘Art and Design’ institutions in the latest Complete University Guide (CUG 2019) rankings — the biggest single-year improvement in this year’s ‘Art and Design’ subject category.

 Summer Shows

As students from Swansea College of Art make final preparations for their summer exhibition series which open on Friday 17 May, Professor Ian Walsh, Dean of Swansea College of Art at UWTSD, has welcomed this latest CUG 2019 league table result.  He said:

"UWTSD Swansea College of Art is committed to maintaining a strong focus on delivering the very best experience for our students. All our staff are passionate about teaching and providing a supportive studio-based experience to all students across our art, design and media courses. This is an excellent result for us and I’d like to thank all the staff for their hard work as we continue to climb the rankings.  We are delighted that this hard work has been recognised by the Complete University Guide.

As a Faculty, we can now look forward to our annual Summer Shows which, once again, promise to be a series of exciting and colourful events that showcase the very best our students have to offer.

Summer shows 1

For over 160 years Swansea College of Art’s summer shows have been a highlight of the city’s cultural calendar.  This wonderful celebration of our students’ creativity and innovation kicks off with exhibitions from Graphic Design and Advertising and Brand Design students, on Friday May 3 at Swansea’s Grand Theatre and Creative Bubble, with additional exhibitions from students studying a range of courses including Automotive & Transport Design, Glass, Performing Arts and Games Design as detailed below. Looking ahead to this year’s Summer Shows, Professor Ian Walsh added:

"Swansea College of Art’s season of summer shows is an established British cultural institution. For over 160 years the College has exhibited the very best young talent from our range of leading art, design and media courses. This summer’s showcase is our biggest by far and promises to be a real celebration of our graduates' creativity and hard work.”
