This year, presenter and well-known producer Huw Rees is the guest speaker and will deliver the virtual lecture on Monday 1 March at 4 pm. Huw will share his experiences and career in television in Wales.

Huw says, “Being invited to share my professional and personal life experiences on St David's Day is a privilege. The opportunity to combine my ability to speak Welsh and my passion for the creative world are key elements in my career.”

Lecturer and artist Gwenllian Beynon, who is responsible for Welsh language provision at Swansea College of Art, says: 'It is great that Huw Rees is addressing our virtual audience on St David's Day this year. Huw is so experienced in the arts and on television. He is also extremely supportive of students and young creative graduates who are just starting out in their careers and is certainly one of the greats of Wales.”

“Holding this kind of event and marking St David's Day is very important as it is such a celebration for us in Wales. St David's Day is a special celebration and we organise an annual lecture with the emphasis on the arts and this year it is great to welcome Huw to present the lecture”.

Caroline Thraves, Academic Director of Arts and Media at the University added: “We are delighted that Huw Rees is delivering the St David's Day Lecture and will present the annual awards. Huw has decades of experience working within the fashion and media world. He is of course known as Huw Fash, the face of S4C fashion and there's nothing he doesn't know about the industry!”.

The Art and Design awards are now an important part of the University's St David's Day celebrations and are a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of those who study or teach within Swansea College of Art.  During the evening awards will be presented to students and staff who have demonstrated their commitment to the Welsh language or Welsh culture”.
