Comedian Elis James launches UWTSD Facebook Live Event
25.01.2021
Comedian, writer and broadcaster, Elis James, will be launching UWTSD’s Facebook Live event for potential applicants this evening (Monday 25 February) and tomorrow (Tuesday 26 February) for those in interested in studying through the medium of Welsh) both at 7pm.
With the deadline for University applications through UCAS delayed to the 29th January, the Facebook live event will offer advice and guidance for potential applicants as well as an opportunity to hear first-hand experiences from our students and gain a range of tips on such vital skills as writing a personal statement and much more.
Elis, who was raised in Carmarthen and attended Ysgol Bro Myrddin, has a great connection with the University as his mother, Nesta, was the Carmarthen campuses’ careers officer for many years.
Head of Marketing, Rebecca Griffiths, said: “The UCAS deadline for applications for this September has been extended until Friday, the 29th of January, so, if applicants are undecided, or haven’t finished their application, they still have a few more days to complete everything. The most important thing is not to panic. We’ve organised this event to reach out to prospective applicants to offer advice and guidance. We want them to know that we’re here to help. We're really grateful to Elis for his willingness to reach out to students and for helping to make this a special event”.
"Research suggests that some students feel they will not be prepared for university, having missed out on time at school or college during the lockdowns. This Facebook Live therefore will offer tips and guidance on personal statements, making an application, along with providing information on the support available at the University.
"We’ll go through the application process and we’ll hear current students’ experiences of studying with us at UWTSD", Rebecca added.
The Facebook Live event this evening (Monday) can be accessed through the University’s Facebook page: University of Wales Trinity Saint David and tomorrow through the University’s Welsh medium page: Prifysgol Cymru Y Drindod Dewi Sant.
