Exploring China-Wales academic publishing opportunities

The University of Wales recently hosted a visit to Wales from Lanzhou University in China to explore opportunities to cooperate in areas of academic writing and publishing.

Associate Professor Jennifer Changxian Zhou, who is Director of the Research Centre for Political Development at Lanzhou University, a prestigious institution located in northwest China, was welcomed by Professor Simon Haslett, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International and Enhancement) of the University of Wales and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), in Cardiff on 22nd January 2020.

Opportunities to collaborate on aspects of academic writing and publishing were explored in discussion with Natalie Williams, Director of the University of Wales Press, her colleague Chris Richards, and Professor Yanxia Zhao, Director of the Confucius Institute at UWTSD, who coordinated the visit.

Professor Haslett said : "It was a great pleasure to welcome Associate Professor Zhou to the University and it was good to discuss potential exciting opportunities for academic cooperation between our institutions. We understand that the President of Lanzhou University is intending to visit Wales to progress the discussions, and we look forward to welcoming him in due course."
