Students at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s (UWTSD) Institute of Management and Health will benefit from online talks and workshops by professionals as part of Industry Week from March 8 to 12.

The aim is for students to get an insight into industries related to their course from real life professionals. Guest speakers, alumni and industry partners from the Institute’s Public Services and Policing, Business, Sports Management, Tourism and Events, International Hotel Management and Sports, Health and Outdoor Education programmes, will deliver talks, sharing expertise and knowledge and tips on how to succeed in the industry.

Speakers will include Matthew Rowlands from South Wales Police, Peter Lynn from Peter Lynn and Partners Solicitors, Richard Abbott, Resort Manager for Mark Warner Greece, Ian Workam from Barclays Bank and representatives from PwC.

Events will include a business challenge hosted by Enterprise Cars, meet the graduates and entrepreneurial and employability skills sessions. Informal Lunch with Lecturers’ sessions will enable those looking to study at UWTSD to meet and chat with staff to find out more.

As part of Industry Week, staff and students at Carmarthen Business School are hosting a Post Covid Wales Digital Conference with keynote speaker Dinah Liversidge, International speaker, Mindset Coach and Business Skills Trainer on Wednesday, March 10 from 1pm to 4pm.

Bronwen Williams, Academic Director said: “Our students choose to study with us for many reasons but the insights and opportunities they get into real careers are what set us apart. Delivering this year’s event online has meant when compiling our list of industry guests, we were able to attract a wider variety of speakers.”

Vic Saunders, Assistant Dean (International and Marketing) said the week of events was a fantastic way for students to reflect on the reality of the employment challenges that they will face and also further identify the competencies that they require to enter the new workplace of today.

“It will enable students to interact with people who are working within the industry. Their insight and tips of how to succeed in the world of work will be a huge benefit to the students when they leave the University to find employment. I am extremely grateful to all of our guest speakers for giving up their time to come in.”
