UWTSD launches 'Work Experience Bursary' in association with Gwesryll yr Urdd, Llangrannog

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has today (26 February 2020) launched a 'Work Experience Bursary' in conjunction with Gwersyll yr Urdd, Llangrannog.

This bursary scheme will offer financial support of up to £1,000 each to three undergraduate students from the Institute of Management and Health to undertake a month's work experience at the Urdd Camp in Llangrannog during the summer holidays this year.

Heddwen Davies, Lecturer in Health, Sport and Physical Education at the Institute of Management and Health, said:

“We are delighted to be collaborating with the Gwesryll in Llangrannog through this bursary. It's a great opportunity for our students to learn and develop new skills at a centre that offers invaluable residential experiences for children and young people through the medium of Welsh.

In order to apply, successful students will be expected to be in their first or second year studying at least 40 credits through the medium of Welsh. We are really looking forward to seeing this partnership develop.”

Lowri Jones is the Director at Gwesrull yr Urdd, Llangrannog. She added:

“We are delighted to be able to work in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity Saint David to offer Institute of Management and Health students outdoor experiences and employment.

They will join for a period as part of our Summer Staff team, a post that has existed since the Urdd's early days.

It gives young Welsh people invaluable experience to lay the foundations for their future careers – a number of prominent Welsh people have benefited from the experience over the years.”
