UWTSD Tourism programme highlighted as “one to watch” by the 2020 World Responsible Tourism Awards
10.11.2020
UWTSD is delighted to hear that the University's Tourism programmes have been officially recognised as “one to watch” by the 2020 World Responsible Tourism Awards.
The Awards recognise businesses and destinations which are helping to spread good practice – to educate, inspire and challenge others to do likewise or do more.
This year the judges decided to commend businesses and destinations which are taking responsibility and addressing the challenge of Covid-19.
UWTSD’s Jacqui Jones, Programme Director of Tourism, Events & Leisure said : “For UWTSD Tourism to be recognised as one to watch in the future by the World Tourism Awards was a major achievement.
“Congratulations to the highly commended winners, Travel Industry lead body ABTA, with their Travelife Strategy, who are our academic partners.
“Our nomination was based on the support we have provided to the Tourism Sector in Wales & globally during the pandemic. This includes launching a new 1 year Tourism Management Certificate programme to support employees in the sector who have been made redundant or furloughed due to the crisis enabling them to upskill, ready to meet increased demand in the Tourism market post Covid.”
