UWTSD welcomes back former student for Carmarthen Business School talk

A Business Information Technology graduate from UWTSD’s Carmarthen Business School recently returned to her alma mater to speak with current students about her employment experiences since graduating.

Former student, Sophie Kift, is invited to give a talk at Carmarthen Business School

Sophie Kift with Glenn Behenna and Dr Roisin Mullins

Sophie Kift, who currently works for NHS Wales as an Informatics Project Manager, visited UWTSD at the request of Glenn Behenna (Senior Lecturer and Programme Manager), one of her former tutors.

After graduating in 2014, Sophie secured a role within the IT Informatics section of NHS Wales. She has since progressed to the role of an Infrastructure Project Manager, leading a team of professionals.

Sophie spoke to BA Business and Management Level 5 students on her experiences of study at the University’s Carmarthen campus, her employment experiences and career path since graduating, her project team experience, the professional training and qualifications she has undertaken and her role as an Infrastructure Project Manager within the NHS Wales Informatics Service. Students also had an opportunity to ask questions and to learn more about Sophie’s experiences.

Following the talk, Sophie commented on LinkedIn:

"As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands: one for helping yourself and one for helping others."
Today, I had the wonderful experience of being invited back to my University, to deliver a presentation on life after graduation and building a career. A chance to give back to the lecturers that taught me!

It was great to meet some of the students that are deciding their next steps. I'm sure there are some prospective PMs in there! A huge thank you to Glenn Behenna and Roisin Mullins for the warm 'welcome back' and humbling comments. I am so grateful for the opportunity and support you continue to provide.”

Glenn Behenna, Senior Lecturer in Business and Management and Programme Manager Carmarthen Business School’s undergraduate portfolio, added:

“At Carmarthen Business School, we enjoy keeping in touch with our graduates as they develop their career paths. It’s great to see them grow into their various roles and professions and realise their potential. We have always encouraged our former students to keep in touch, to visit us and speak with our current students and they continue to do so.

Sophie Kift graduated with a Business Information Technology degree in 2014 and it is wonderful to welcome her back in her role as an Infrastructure Project Manager for NHS Wales Informatics Service and to share her experiences with our project management students. She was an excellent student and now leading a team of professionals. It’s an example of what can be achieved.”
