The University of Wales Trinity Saint David has recently attained accreditation by The Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) for their Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management and Architectural technology courses.

This means that students will have a fast-track progression through their professional route, together with great support from the CABE team and help to build the next generation of professionals. Being accredited by CABE, enables students to start their professional journey whilst studying at the University. Students will have the opportunity to attend CPD events and also network through the CABE forum as well as an opportunity to become members of the CABE regional committees.

The next step for the University is to continue with accreditation of both master’s and environmental courses.

Lindsay Richards, Senior Lecturer Quantity Surveying and Construction said:

The Chartered Association of Building Engineers is a well-respected professional institution, who have an active CPD programme throughout the UK and have representation throughout all construction-related professions. Membership of CABE is internationally recognised, signifying to employers, clients, and the public a high level of professional competence within the construction industry globally.

As a chartered building engineer and also as current secretary for Wales, I am delighted to be working closely with CABE on the development of our courses.

This is a great opportunity for our current and future students, and we are really looking forward to working with CABE and with John Barfoot, Education and Academic director in future proofing our courses. All our students will benefit from free student membership. It’s important that our students are encouraged to engage in continuous professional development events in readiness for their professional careers.”

The courses that have received accreditation include BSc/HND/HNC Quantity Surveying, BSc/HND/HNC Building Surveying, BSc/HND/HNC Construction Management and BSc/HND/HNC Architectural Technology. John Barfoot, Learning, Education & Academic Director of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers said:

“It was a pleasure to accredit these Courses at UWTSD recently.

The accreditation panel was impressed with the course team and the enthusiastic and passionate presentation given by the team, and it was really nice to see that the University course curriculum included retro fit, existing buildings, off-site construction and total lifecycle and not solely focusing on new builds. And the industrial relations built by the team with their individual national recognition in their specialist field were impressive.

The panel further commented that the University has an excellent team with a really good mixture of enthused lecturers and practitioners, with a core background in the industry with excellent teaching skills.

We look forward to further developing our partnership with UWTSD”
