UWTSD’s Creative Bubble offers support to Swansea BID initiative
11.06.2021
With a steady path out of Wales' lockdown laid out by First Minister Mark Drakeford, Swansea BID stepped up once again with more vital PPE supplies to support BID area shops and businesses open and trade safely.
Swansea BID has set up a hub at UWTSD’s Creative Bubble space in Cradock Street, where they also distributed PPE packs via pre-arranged appointments. Each starter pack contained facemasks, Cygnet gin hand sanitiser, Covid-secure poster, ‘please wear a mask’ poster and social distancing floor stickers. Swansea BID has been supporting businesses throughout the pandemic, and these packs were offered as part of their efforts to help the city centre thrive again.
UWTSD has always had a close relationship with Swansea BID - in 2013 they co-launched Creative Bubble as a means to encourage students to set up their own businesses in Swansea. The pop-up multi-purpose space in Cradock Street has hosted hundreds of student-led events from pop-up shops to networking evenings and has resulted in numerous student internships and employment with local businesses. Swansea BID is temporarily using the Creative Bubble shop as a base before the shop opens to students again in September.
Russell Greenslade, Chief Executive of Swansea BID (Business Improvement District) said: “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with UWTSD via our Creative Bubble initiative, and we are very pleased to use the fantastic Creative Bubble space to help our city centre businesses get back on their feet. The past year has been a difficult time for all of our BID area businesses, but I am positive that if we all continue to pull together, we can move on to better times. We have much to look forward to.”
Professor Ian Walsh, Provost of UWTSD Swansea, said: “As part of our civic mission UWTSD is committed to working with Swansea BID to build a strong and vibrant Swansea. In what is a very challenging time for the traders who form the backbone of the city’s commercial core we see it as our duty to help them begin to move forward.”
Swansea BID would like to thank UWTSD, Creative Bubble, Cygnet Distillery, SA Stationers and SW Design and Print for supporting the initiative to make consumers and visitors to Swansea city centre feel safe and secure.
The new Swansea BID hub office, at Creative Bubble will now be open daily from 10am to 4pm for all your BID-related enquiries.
