UWTSD appoint Iestyn Davies to the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is pleased to welcome Mr Iestyn Davies to the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor as he takes up his post today (May 3).
Prior to his appointment to Pro Vice-Chancellor at UWTSD, Iestyn Davies was Chief Executive Officer at ColegauCymru from 2015 where he succeeded in shaping a strong Further Education sector in Wales.
Originally from Merthyr Tydfil, after graduation Iestyn worked as a youth work and teacher, before embarking on a period in sales and marketing.
Following the arrival of devolution in 1999, Iestyn moved into the field of political communications and policy and has a strong track record in external affairs,. He has held senior roles in the Federation of Small Businesses and the Royal College of Nursing as well as with the Arts Council of Wales.
An experienced campaigner and a passionate advocate for lifelong learning and technical education, he is a frequent speaker at events and conferences as well as a contributor to broadcast and print media on the subject of post-16 education. In relation to his appointment, Mr Davies, commented:

I look forward to working with colleagues as we seek to build upon our commitment to both higher and further education and create a new system of post compulsory education that provides progression routes from entry level to doctoral studies across academic and vocational areas.”
