UWTSD Shortlisted for Institute of Hospitality Global Awards 2022

Tourism, Events & Leisure courses at UWTSD together with Programme Manager Jacqui Jones have been shortlisted for several prestigious Institute of Hospitality (IoH) annual Hospitality Global Awards, amongst finalists from across the UK and sector.
UWTSD has been shortlisted for ‘Best Educational Programme 2022’, and Programme Manager Jacqui Jones is a finalist for ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Industry’ at this year’s awards, which showcase the best the industry has to offer.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony dinner at Hilton London Bankside on 4th July.
IoH CEO Robert Richardson FIH said: “We have been delighted by the number and calibre of nominations we’ve received for the Annual Awards this year. It has highlighted again some of the amazing work across our industry during the last year and I’m delighted we will be able to celebrate their achievements at our IoH Annual Dinner in July.”
Jacqui Jones, Programme Manager and Senior Lecturer for Tourism, Events, and International Leisure Resort Management courses at UWTSD said: “Being nominated and shortlisted for the ‘Best Educational Programme Award’ is recognition of all the incredible work our students and teaching team put in to overcome the impacts of Covid.
“While we were unable to run field trips and placements, we used online global Masterclasses with industry leaders and highly successful graduates to inspire our students, along with behind-the-scenes virtual tours. We used every opportunity to develop our students’ professional and industry skills to support the Hospitality, Tourism & Events industry ready for the world to reopen, and found innovative new ways to further enhance their skillsets.”
Jacqui was also individually shortlisted for an award and added: “I am honoured to have been nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, especially amongst such an incredible final list! I have a passion for the Hospitality, Tourism & Events industry, and it is a pleasure to support the next generation. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching their careers take off.”
James Hayward MIH, General Manager of Coldra Court Hotel, Celtic Manor Collection, who works closely with Jacquion the IOH Cymru Committee says: “It’s been an honour to sit beside Jacqui Jones on so many occasions over the past 2 years. She’s inspired me and driven me to inspire the students.”
Ifty H, Chair of the Institute of Hospitality adds that recognition of Jacqui’s “enthusiasm and selfless support to help the new generation in Hospitality and Tourism industries” is “well deserved.”
