“While we were unable to run field trips and placements, we used online global Masterclasses with industry leaders and highly successful graduates to inspire our students, along with behind-the-scenes virtual tours. We used every opportunity to develop our students’ professional and industry skills to support the Hospitality, Tourism & Events industry ready for the world to reopen, and found innovative new ways to further enhance their skillsets.”

Jacqui was also individually shortlisted for an award and added: “I am honoured to have been nominated for the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award, especially amongst such an incredible final list! I have a passion for the Hospitality, Tourism & Events industry, and it is a pleasure to support the next generation. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching their careers take off.”

James Hayward MIH, General Manager of Coldra Court Hotel, Celtic Manor Collection, who works closely with Jacquion the IOH Cymru Committee says: “It’s been an honour to sit beside Jacqui Jones on so many occasions over the past 2 years. She’s inspired me and driven me to inspire the students.”

Ifty H, Chair of the Institute of Hospitality adds that recognition of Jacqui’s “enthusiasm and selfless support to help the new generation in Hospitality and Tourism industries” is “well deserved.”

UWTSD is a leading provider of courses in this field, which involve international study trips, industry visits and integrated paid internships with leading organisations and events, both locally and internationally. Through these opportunities, students are able to build outstanding career networks with market leaders around the world.

Professor Wendy Dearing, Dean of the University’s Institute of Management and Health said: “We are immensely proud of all our staff and students who have accomplished extraordinary things during such challenging times. The challenges created by Covid-19 were unparalleled. It’s quite amazing what has been achieved by staff who have gone above and beyond to deliver high quality learning through a blend of online and face-to-face teaching. I’m grateful to everyone who has made such exceptional contributions. Jacqui and her team deserve this exciting and rewarding recognition.”
