UWTSD shortlisted for Springboard Awards for Excellence 2022

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s (UWTSD) Tourism and Events Management programmes have been shortlisted for the Springboard Awards For Excellence 2022 for the Best Education & Industry Partnership Award in recognition of the University’s industry collaborations which help students build outstanding career networks with market leaders around the world.
The University’s Tourism and Events Management programmes have a strong industry flavour and involve international study trips, behind the scenes industry visits and integrated paid internships with leading organisations and events both locally and internationally.
Jacqui Jones, Programme Manager for International Events, Tourism and Leisure Resort Management programmes at UWTSD said: “We are thrilled to be nominated for the Best Education Industry Partnership award. This is wonderful recognition of our engagement with both the industry globally and locally, our amazing students and the incredible support and inspiration they are given by our graduates and industry leaders as mentors.
“We are looking forward to celebrating the nomination with our forthcoming student industry events including Run the Track with Ffos Las Race Course, International and Wales Tourism Meet the Experts Events and student organised industry conferences for schools and colleges.”
The awards ceremony will take place at the Science Museum in London on April 7.
Springboard was established in 1990 to support the hospitality, leisure, and tourism industry and those seeking employment within it.
Working nationally across the UK and Ireland, its work is built around three key areas:
Employability training programmes – helping disadvantaged people gain soft and hard skills, industry insight, and work placement opportunities- leading to overall improved wellbeing, enhanced employability, and transition to positive destinations including employment/further education/an apprenticeship/etc.
Education programmes – working with schools, colleges, and universities to enhance curriculum teaching delivered to students – helping them gain key industry insight and skills development required for the transition from education to employment
Careers resources and advice – providing specialist careers activities online, face-to-face and at careers events.
