University to host ‘Looked After Children Conference’

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David are working together with the South West Wales Reaching Wider partnership to coordinate a Looked After Children and Care Leavers Information and Guidance day on the Carmarthen Campus from 10am-2pm, Thursday 20 February.

The day has been designed to be informal yet informative, providing the participants and key workers with the relevant information when considering educational progression from further to higher education.

From 10am at the Dewi Building on campus, staff and carefully selected Student Ambassadors from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David will be on hand to provide the attendees with information designed to cover all aspects of support which is available to access at University.

Talks by Jane Johns from the Higher Education Funding Council of Wales, and Professor Ian Wells, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Student Experience), among others, will present a fantastic opportunity for guests to find out more about the support structures in place at the University.

Further talks by delegates will ensure that it is clear how to access the support that will be in place for Care Leavers at all stages of their higher education experience.

Transport to the event on the University’s Carmarthen campus can be arranged for attendees; alternatively, transport costs can be reimbursed if requested. Lunch will be provided at the event.
