The University of Wales Graduation Celebration is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our graduates. We are delighted to advise that the next celebration will be held at the Swansea Arena, Swansea on Tuesday 12th July 2022.

You should find all the information you need to plan your trip to Swansea for the 2022 Graduation Celebration in this Information Pack.

Registration for the 2022 Graduation Celebration has now closed.

All students who studied at a collaborative centre and have been admitted to a University of Wales award by Vice-Chancellor’s decree by 25th May 2022 are invited to celebrate their achievements at this special event.

To register for the next University of Wales Graduation Celebration, please complete the expression of interest form - students must submit this form before registration closes on Friday 27th May 2022.

Graduates are advised not to plan their visit to Swansea until they have received confirmation that their request to attend has been successful.

Please note that the event is held to celebrate your academic achievements. Students are not formally admitted to their award at the Graduation Celebration and do not receive their certificate on the day. Certificates are sent to collaborative centres for distribution to graduates.

Ceremony Timetable

Ceremony times

The timetable for the ceremonies to be held on 12th July has been confirmed and can be seen on Graduation Celebration 12th July - Swansea Arena.

Ceremony Timetable

All students who were eligible to attend the Graduation Celebration and confirmed their attendance will have received an email detailing the time of the Graduation Ceremony as well as a timetable for the day.

Students must ensure that on arrival they register at the University Registration desk during the allotted time. Please note that if you have not registered, you will not be permitted to enter the theatre.

CEREMONY TIMETABLE - Tuesday 12th JULY 2022

Registration Opens: 11:30am
Gowning Opens: 11.30am
Photography Opens: 11.30am
Registration Closes: 1.15pm
Auditorium Opens: 1.15pm
Students to be seated in Auditorium: 1.30pm
Ceremony Starts: 2.00pm

For those students wishing to have official photographs taken on the day, we would advise that you register and collect your gown as early as possible to ensure that you have enough time for your picture to be taken before the ceremony. We cannot guarantee that there will be enough time following the ceremony. 

Academic dress

You will be required to wear full academic dress at the Graduation Celebration, and you will need to ensure that you have ordered your gown well in advance of the day.

You can order your gown online from Ede & Ravenscroft once you have confirmed your attendance and the Graduation Team has contacted you to confirm the time of the ceremony. 

When you know you are attending, please follow these steps: 

  • go to the  Ede & Ravenscroft  website
  • enter UWTSD in the search box under "SELECT YOUR INSTITUTION" and click the "Find" button
  • select "University of Wales Trinity Saint David" from the drop down menu and click the "Submit" button
  • select the date of your Graduation Celebration (Swansea Arena, 12th July 2022) from the drop down menu and click the "Submit" button
  • select the level and name of your award and click the "Next" button
  • enter your details and follow the payment instructions on-screen

After your order has been successfully placed, you will receive a confirmation email with your order number. Make sure you either bring a printed copy of your confirmation email on the day or make a note of the number in the email. It is important that you bring your order number with you so that Ede & Ravenscroft can find your gown easily on the day.

When ordering your gown, you will need to provide details of your hat size (or your head circumference) and your height. 

The gown you order will be available for collection from the gowning station at the Swansea Arena on the day of your celebration.

We would encourage you to dress smartly on the day as this will look better for photographs.

Planning your trip to Swansea
We would advise that you do not plan your visit to Swansea until you have received confirmation that your request to attend the Graduation Celebration has been successful.

Please note that the University of Wales does not arrange accommodation on behalf of attendees. It is your responsibility to arrange your own accommodation.

Invitation letters for visa purposes

Invitation letters for visa purposes

If you requested an invitation letter for visa purposes for yourself and/or your guest(s), you will receive a PDF copy of the letter by email. If you have not received the letter, please email graduation@wales.ac.uk

The letter states the graduate's name ONLY and will state the number of guests requested. 

The letter is addressed to 'Whom It May Concern’. It will provide the graduate's name but will not state the name(s) of any guest(s) attending.

Visa invitation letters are only issued to those graduates and guests who require a visa to enter the UK. 

If you require one or more printed copies of the invitation letter for visa purposes, please contact the Graduation Team after you have received the PDF copy providing your full name, your 13 digit University Student Number (USN), the name of the collaborative centre you studied with and a postal address for the letter(s) to be sent to.

 

Photography

You are welcome to take photographs and videos of the event. However we do ask that you do not obstruct the official photographers in their duties.

Professional photography will be provided by Ede and Ravenscroft. To save time and money, it is advisable to pre-order online or telephone +44 (0)1223 861854.

You can order your photographs online from Ede & Ravenscroft once you have confirmed your attendance and the Graduation Team has contacted you to confirm the time of the ceremony.

On Graduation Day, the photography studios and sales desk will be located in the Swansea Arena. A photographer will also attempt to capture your photograph as you shake the Vice-Chancellor’s hand on stage. This particular photograph will be placed on a secure page on the Ede and Ravenscroft website for you to view and order online if you so wish.

TICKETS

Tickets for you and your guest(s) will be available for collection from the Graduation Celebration registration desk on the day of your celebration. 

GUEST TICKETS

We have had a high volume of graduates requesting additional guest tickets. Please note that we can only guarantee two guest tickets. If there are spare seats available, additional guest tickets will be allocated on a first come first serve basis on the day of the ceremony. The University cannot guarantee the availability of spare seats and any additional guests will not be seated with the first two.

The Graduation Celebration is a family occasion and children are welcome to attend. Children who require a seat will need to be included within your guest list allocation.

PROGRAMMES

Printed programmes will be available on the day. The programmes will include the names of those attending the celebration and will be free of charge.

Parking at the Swansea Arena

Some is no street parking is available at the Swansea Arena area but there are several car parks located within close proximity of the Arena, located either side of the Oystermouth Road. Information of parking locally can also be found on the Swansea Council website.
