My name is Geraint Forster and I teach on a range of modules based around physiology and fitness, as well as being Programme Director for the BSc Sport and Exercise Science portfolio of degrees. My life has always revolved around physical activity and fitness, and I am passionate about helping others to develop their knowledge in these areas.
I have worked in a wide range of jobs, including personal trainer, mountain bike leader, Sports Centre manager and Outdoor Education Lecturer. Alongside my academic qualifications I have a broad range of additional qualifications such as Mountain Leader, Canoe & Kayak Coach, Mountain Bike Leader, Open Water Swim Coach and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. This variety of experiences helps me to teach students how to work with a wide range of clients, with all manner of health and fitness goals.
My personal interests and hobbies also revolve around sport and physical activity, and over the years I have enjoyed experiences such as representing Great Britain in the World Lifesaving Championships in New Zealand, completing the Tour Du Mont Blanc on mountain bike in the Alps and completing IronMan Wales.
I am a first-language Welsh-speaker who is keen to provide as many opportunities as possible for students to study in their preferred language, whether that be English or Welsh.
My main goal at UWTSD is to produce graduates who have the passion, knowledge and skills to be able to work with a wide range of clients towards achieving their goals.
