Lecturer on the BA(Hons) Glass courses and BA(Hons) Surface Pattern (Makers pathway)

Teaching within both Further and Higher Education over the past 18 years has given me the experience to deliver practical skills in a wide range of processes within the field of Ceramics and Glass as well as the core skills of drawing and visual studies. I enjoy helping the students to develop concepts and ideas through the making process and encourage the use of both 2D and 3D work and the balance of hand generated craft skills along with digital and mechanical technology.

The making process and the interdisciplinary use of materials

All aspects of drawing as both process and visual communication, including traditional and digital imagery

Kiln formed glass and the screen-printing process with its application to glass and ceramics.

I am interested in creative, arts education for all and strive to protect traditional skills in making, whilst developing contemporary and technological processes.

My practical work is an ongoing personal journey that enables me to experiment with contemporary techniques in glass and ceramics and this constantly influences my thinking and teaching.
