I first qualified as a geneticist and for a few years worked in research. I then qualified to teach.
I taught full time initially and then part time overall for about 15 years.
I have always thought experience is important and so during this time I also worked part time as a quantity surveyor and then more recently as a highway engineer for the Local Council.

- Chartered Institute of Builders
- I have experience of teaching quantity surveying, project management and highway engineering modules.
- I have experience of supervising both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
My doctorate was in procurement.
The title of the thesis is “Development of an Effective Model for Collaboration within the UK Construction Industry”.
From this research I have published two journal papers and four conference papers.
Within the construction industry I have worked as both a quantity surveyor working on mostly Welsh Government civils projects and also as a highway engineer for the Local Council. I have experience of working on both small and large complex projects.
