Working with singers on German diction, preparing them to sing any song repertoire with German settings

Jacqueline Pischorn was born in Austria and studied singing at the University of Music and Dramatic Art in Graz and at Trinity College of Music in London. At the Britten-Pears School she studied contemporary music with Oliver Knussen and Rosemary Hardy.

A great success was a first performance of a piece (Kyng Orfeo), written for her by Ian Schofield, at Turner Sims Hall in Southampton, accompanied by pianist David Owen Norris.

Oratorio performances include Mozart’s Vespers and St John Passion at St John's Smith Square, Mozart's Requiem at Cadogan Hall, and B Minor Mass in Southwark Cathedral, each with conductor James Gaddarn. She sang Messiah with Oxford Sinfonia and many concerts with the Portsmouth Baroque Choir, Newbury Baroque Choir, Peebles Choral Society, Kendal and Cockermouth Choral Society, The Consort of Twelve under Paul Esswood

Jacqueline gave many Lieder recitals in Austria, Slovenia and the UK. Jacqueline and Michael McCartney started a guitar and voice duo in January 2018.  They are working on songs from the Romantic period and on contemporary works and are giving recitals around the UK.

Jacqueline started working as a language coach in 2003 at the Royal Welsh College of Music where she is still working in the same capacity.  She is also the German coach for Birmingham Conservatoire and has coached singers at Morley College, London, Cardiff University, The Wagner Society, The Waynflete Singers and Longborough Opera Festival (Rheingold), Nederlandse Reisopera (Siegfried, Johannespassion).

At Welsh National Opera Jacqueline has worked as coach on Salome, Wozzeck, Meistersinger (with Bryn Terfel), Ariadne auf Naxos (with Sarah Conolly), Entführung, Lohengrin, Tristan und Isolde (with Ben Heppner), Wagner Dream, Rosenkavalier, Fidelio, Die Kommilitonen, Lulu, Moses und Aron (with John Tomlinson).

Apart from my main subject as diction coach, I also works as a singing teacher for Downe House School, which I enjoy immensely.  I have also worked previously as piano teacher at schools.

Before my singing degree I spent two years at Karl Franzens University in Graz reading psychology.  I spent some time in learning pedagogy and child psychology.  This influenced my later life in some way, reflecting upon teaching methods and being always very open to new and individual approaches in order to reach out to every student in the best way and trying to be helpful to them individually.
