Jayne Woodman

Human Resource Manager Lecturer with responsibility for the MA Human Resource Management dissertations.

I started my career working in the Human Resource and Training Department of Ford Motor Company. I went on to work as a Human Resource Manager for British Airways Interiors Engineering and then the United Plastics group. This practical experience has been transferred into my teaching where emphasis is placed on practical application and employability skills. I believe that I am able to motivate and inspire the students that I teach.

I have been lecturing since 2004, first at the University of South Wales and then at Swansea Business School.  I’ve delivered at various levels to local, regional and international students at HNC, HND, BA, BSc and MBA level. I teach in France each winter and have also taught in Malaysia.

I have been part of the team to validate undergraduate and post graduate programmes for the Faculty of Business and Management, I have written and delivered on many of these modules.

I am engaged with learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of student research projects/dissertations/theses largely within the field of Human Resource Management.

I deliver innovative teaching and assessment methods to develop a student’s competence and capability in a variety of areas.

  • My academic interests are in the area of Human Resource Management, in particular working conditions and employee voice to improve sustainability and maintain competitive advantage.
  • I lecture from level 4 to level 7.
  • The subjects I teach are Employment Relations and Reward, the Human Resource Professional and other Human Resource related modules, I also offer Level 7 dissertation supervision.

I am an experienced academic and industry practitioner (Human Resource Management).

I believe that my academic offering is enhanced through my previous and current involvement with private and public organisations as well as with consultancy projects. I remain engaged with public and private sector initiatives so that I am aware of what is happening outside academia.

I have delivered a diverse range of Human Resource related consultancy work, mainly to SMEs.

I sit on the Editorial Board of the South Wales Business Review.
