I have over 20 years’ experience of working in the private and public sector, in the area of Human Resource Management. Previous roles have included HR Officer, HR Consultant, HR Adviser and Personnel Manager.
My previous employers have included Marks and Spencer, NPI Financial Services, Cable and Wireless, Cardiff Council and Neath Port Talbot Council.
I also worked as a teacher’s assistant in Malaysia for a year. Perhaps one of my more unusual qualifications is the International Baccalaureate Certificate in Malay which I obtained whilst working in Kuala Lumpur. I also spent a summer working as a camp counsellor in Pennsylvania, USA.
As a student I attended the United World College of the Atlantic, Durham University and UWTSD. I am a Chartered Member of the CIPD and obtained a Master’s Degree in HRM in 2017. I joined UWTSD in 2017, as a Lecturer in HRM.

Teaching areas include Human Resource Management, Skills for the Workplace and Management Skills.
Modules taught have included Level 4 Effective Team work and Communication Skills, Level 5 Skills for Managing, Level 5 Managing People, Level 5 CIPD modules, Level 6 Employment Relations and Reward, Level 7 CIPD modules.
I currently supervise students undertaking dissertations at level 6 and 7.
My Master’s dissertation topic was the Retention of Childcare Social Workers. I was able to propose a new model based on multi-dimensional support which would aid retention of the current workforce.
I am currently enrolled on the University's Doctorate in Professional Practice programme, with interests in wellbeing and compassionate leadership.
