A new vision for Lampeter
University of Wales Trinity Saint David offers an ambitious and bold vision for Lampeter and the vicinity. It is a long-term vision that is largely dependent on local and national support.
The University will work closely with Ceredigion County Council, Coleg Ceredigion and Coleg Sir Gar, Lampeter Town Council, Welsh Government, UK Government and various other partners in Lampeter, Ceredigion and Mid Wales, to develop the initiative to its full potential. It is hoped that the development will stimulate economic, social and cultural activity in the area by injecting new life and energy into the town.
As a core institution, the University recognises that it has a central role to play in the regeneration of Lampeter town in the post Covid period. The University sees itself as a catalyst for change. That change will be positive, sustainable, aimed at the long-term and benefiting future generations.
The University’s proposal is based on facilitating and accelerating economic growth in and around Lampeter. Strengthening economic resilience is at the heart of the vision, most of all, by taking advantage of the range of natural assets that exist locally.
We want to see a confident community full of ideas, a community ready to venture, a community ready to change and adapt where necessary.
By integrating the local environment, health and well-being, social justice and the economy, the University believes that an innovative scheme could be developed that could change the prospects of Lampeter and the wider community for the long term.
On the one hand, the plan will respond to the global ecological crisis; in addition, it will offer a local solution for Lampeter and the wider communities to celebrate Ceredigion’s rich and rural life.
