Role in the University

Kara lectures on the Sabbatical Scheme Welsh courses for education practitioners, specializing in language teaching and learning methodology as well as contributing to the Welsh language provision on BA Education and PGCE courses.

Kara also manages the Postgraduate Certificate in Language Policy and Planning for the University.

Other responsibilities include curriculum design course authoring as well as contributing to Peniarth’s publications and provision.

Background

Kara has worked in the field of teaching Welsh throughout her career. She has worked in universities to author and provide Welsh language courses for the community, the education workforce and the care and medical workforces.

In addition, in her role as Director of the Madog Centre, University of Rio Grande, she organized events, research projects and supported international activity together with managing the undergraduate Welsh language, history and literature course programme.

For a time, she lectured in Subtitling for the University of Wales, Lampeter, and now contributes to the Subtitling Postgraduate Certificate at UWTSD.

She has travelled extensively throughout North America lecturing, teaching and holding workshops with organizations such as Cymdeithas Madog, NAASWCH and the NAFOW.
