Exploring our place in the Cosmos
Welcome to the Sophia Centre for the study of cosmology in culture, a teaching and research centre at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
The centre has a wide-ranging remit to study all the ways in which human beings relate to the sky, planets, and stars through the history and culture of astronomy, astrology, and cosmology.
The centre is committed to a multi-cultural perspective. It examines the theories and practices of astrology in all cultures from ancient times to the modern world, along with the relationship between astronomy and society, politics, religion, and the arts, in the past and present.
Our courses
The centre teaches two online MA (Masters) courses. Both courses are available part-time or full-time.
The Centre also:
- supervises PhDs
- holds conferences
