Where can I study?

Frequently Asked Questions

I am interested in one of the Study Abroad programmes. What should I do first?
  1. Do some research. Read the Go Global Handbook to find out where you can go abroad, what funding is available, and how the process works. Ask other students about their experiences going abroad. Research the programme you are interested in joining.
  2. Talk to your personal tutor. Ask if a semester abroad will fit into your degree or whether a summer opportunity may be a better fit. Ask if they have any group trips planned.
  3. Contact the Go Global Team (goglobal@uwtsd.ac.uk) with any questions.
I've chosen where I want to go, now how do I apply for the programme?
  1. Make sure you have a current passport. You will need this to make your visa application, so apply for one as soon as you can.
  2. Complete the online application.
  3. Email the university you are interested in to let them know you're interested to study abroad there.
I've submitted my application, what's next?
  1. Once you have completed your application, you will be called for interview with the Go Global Team and relevant representative members of academic staff.
  2. If you have been provisionally accepted by the Go Global Team, you will need to fill in application forms for the university you'd like to study abroad at (the 'Host University').
  3. Once you are accepted at the Host University, you will be able to apply for a visa (if relevant), book flights, etc.
How much money will it cost? How much funding can I get?

The amount you will need varies on the programme, institution, and country you choose to study at. All students on Study Abroad exchanges will be automatically considered for funding through either Taith or Turing.

There is additional funding for students from a Widening Participation background (e.g. those with low income, students with caring responsibilities, student refugees, etc.)  Visit our Funding Opportunities Page, read the Handbook, and/or email the Go Global Team at goglobal@uwtsd.ac.uk for more info on your chosen university.

Does the academic credit transfer back to my degree at UWTSD (my Home University)?

Yes, all credit transfers back to UWTSD and counts towards your degree.
